We are looking for a:

Senior Online Editor (business)

The role
Every year more than 100 corporations and startups choose the Amsterdam area as their business location and home. amsterdam inbusiness is looking for a senior online editor to edit and manage the (mainly English) content provided on the website, www.iamsterdam.com/business. This website is the main platform to provide business information to various target groups such as international corporations, startups and social enterprises, as well as real estate marketing and 'Amsterdam Trade'.

You will be employed by the City of Amsterdam/ amsterdam inbusiness, working at Amsterdam Marketing, reporting directly to the online editor-in-chief. Hierarchically, you will report to the media productions manager and the amsterdam inbusiness deputy managing director.

This position involves:
Optimising, executing and evaluating the overall online business strategy; Managing and guiding freelance writers to produce content for the website; Translating business marketing themes and campaigns to the website effectively; Formulating and monitoring KPIs with stakeholders; Working closely with the online editor-in-chief, the amsterdam inbusiness acquisition staff and IN Amsterdam (formerly known as Expatcenter); Working with Amsterdam Marketing’s other online senior editors to determine iamsterdam.com's online content strategy; Periodically providing reports to stakeholders (using Google Analytics and social media reports), including conclusions and recommendations.

We are looking for
We are looking for a professional with at least three to five years of relevant experience in online marketing and online editing. You have a track record of working closely with the target groups described and can translate an overall strategy from policy to online content. You are able to understand the various wishes of a broad range of stakeholders and translate them into concrete results. You can work independently, but are also a team player that is always focused on achieving results. You are naturally persuasive and good at putting across your point of view.

In addition, you are in possession of:

  • A Higher Professional Education diploma ('HBO') or university degree;
  • At least three to five years’ experience in a relevant field;
  • Up-to-date digital media skills (CMS, SEO, conversion optimisation, social media);
  • GA IQ (preferably AdWords certification), or you are willing to work to obtain this;
  • Experience in launching and monitoring online campaigns (including social media campaigns);
  • Excellent copywriting skills.


  • A good knowledge of Dutch and English, both written and spoken;
  • Teamplayer;
  • Results-driven;
  • Political sensitivity;
  • Eye for detail.

We offer

  • Working for Amsterdam Marketing means working with colleagues who are proud of and passionate about Amsterdam. You will be based in a city centre location close to all of the city’s amenities; A salary of €2,553 to €3,749 per month, depending on experience (based on full-time employment);
  • A 36-hour week (full-time), though working a minimum of 30 hours is negotiable;
  • Access to online training at the Amsterdam Marketing Academy;
  • The Amsterdam crew card, granting you free or discounted entry to almost all museums and attractions in Amsterdam.

The acquisitions staff provide guidance and support to foreign companies as they establish themselves in the AMA. aib also maintains close contact with the international business community in the AMA. aib works closely with the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency, part of the Ministry of
